How Makaton Is Used By Children And Adults With Children...

â€Å"Makaton is a signing system devised by a speech therapist in the 1970s to help adults with severe learning difficulties to communicate. It is a basic means of communication and encourages language development in children and adults with communication difficulties† (Mukherji et al, 2000, Pg. 94). The Makaton vocabulary was designed in 1972 by Marget Walker, she came up with the idea of Makaton through responding and working towards to needs of deaf adults with severe difficulties. Grove et al (1990) highlights that through working with these adults she was looking at signing to teach them language and communication skills. This shows that Walker developed a communication tool through working with the adults with disabilities, this shows†¦show more content†¦This can be done as Makaton signing is used with wwspoken language this can develop children’s spoken skills and vocabulary. Mathieson (2007) reiterates this as they state that the Makaton communication system is strongly supported through language. When using Makaton signs eye contact, body language and facial expressions are used to ensure that the individual that uses Makaton to communicate understands what is being said and then is able respond to the sign. â€Å"Communication is used for people to establish and develop relationships with others it can also be used to express thoughts and feelings.† (Steinberg, 2007, pg 19). This highlights that everyday tasks involve communication such as asking for food and drink, making friends and asking questions, for children with communication difficulties by not being able to doing this effectively, this can lead to exclusion as they struggle to communicate their needs and in social situations. But by using Makaton this can enable them to communicate their needs and to develop their social skills. When working in schools it is important to look at the child’s needs to see how they best communicate this can enable communication to be effective with the child preventing exclusion. The environment around us in Southwest Florida is beautiful, but also delicate. From the tall cabbage palms to the shortest saw palmetto, the foliage that surrounds us represents life in Southwest Florida. The environment in Florida is extremely fragile and steps need to be taken in order to preserve its beauty. The first settlers in Florida sacrificed their living conditions to be surrounded by snakes, bobcats, and bears. From their sacrifice, Americans were able to settle one of the most beautiful places in the United States. Now, Florida has been bulldozed down and is filled with gated communities and retirement centers. The Florida landscape has taken many hits throughout the years, but it still manages to grow up through the concrete and show what Florida used to look like. The fragile environment in South West Florida needs to be protected for future generations to enjoy. In the book A Land Remembered by Patrick Smith, the concept of appreciating nature resonates throughout the novel. The first character introduced, Solomon Maclvey, is the great grandson of one of the settlers of Southwest Florida. Genin was then jealous of Gene who’s the only one allowed of disturbing Crane. She always watches them as they burn themselves out working hard for the new research but then she can no longer hold her temper. Genin will kill Gene the day that Dr Crane get out of the house to do an important work in the city, after killing Gene, Genin decided to acquire her freedom. Wondering in the city, Genin thought of how much her creator meant to her that she could not stand seeing him with another woman or not seeing him at all and so she decided to go back to him. Dr Crane was captured accusing him to be responsible for the death of his best friend Gene who was found dead at his laboratory. Right then Crane ought to find and destroy his invention to stop the crime earlier.  In the city, Crane saw Genin wondering around watching the city lights and approached her, seemingly innocent, Genin admitted what she had done and why she had done such thing to the women that her creator so loved. While Miranda continues to oppress her employees and treat them as her personal staff, there is no one able to stand up to her and stem her excesses. With an effective board and senior management, this could be possible. Companies can take charge of toxic environments by changing the ineffective leadership, or impressing on the leaders that failure to perform their duty jeopardizes the firms long term success (Housman Minor, 2015). Toxic employees are the second focus of strategy. These employees should be coached on ways to stop the behavior that poisons the company, and prevents people working to the best of their ability. When this is possible, as is likely to be the case at Runway, the toxic workers should be removed.
